Cameron Pearce is a highly accomplished musician based in Christchurch, New Zealand. As a Senior Academic Staff Member at Ara Music Arts, he lectures in the areas of Harmony, Arranging & Composition, Ensembles, and Trumpet studies. His research delves into the intricacies of jazz performance and arranging/composition for large jazz ensembles.

Beyond academia, Cameron is a sought-after performer across diverse musical genres. He is a founding member of the Symposium Jazz Dec-tet and has been a valued member of the Christchurch Symphony since 1995.

His impressive performance resume includes performances with renowned international and New Zealand artists such as Diana Krall, Arturo O’Farrell, The Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra (Birdland), Bobby Shew, James Morrison, Michael Phillip Mossman, David Berkman, Bic Runga, Dave Dobbyn, Julia Deans, Tami Neilson, Nadia Reid, Terrible Sons, The Adults, Goldenhorse, Anika Moa, ENZO, Tim Beveridge, Dame Malvina Major, and Sir Howard Morrison.

Cameron’s talent extends to arranging and composition, with credits spanning projects with acclaimed jazz artists like Dave Douglas, Ingrid Jensen, Terrell Stafford, and David Berkman, as well as collaborations with Dave Dobbyn, Julia Deans, Sir Howard Morrison, Tim Beveridge, Ali Harper, Symposium, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Vector Wellington Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonic, The Court Theatre, Showbiz Christchurch, and numerous other theatre companies throughout New Zealand.

A Christchurch native, Cameron holds a Bachelor of Musical Arts from Ara as well as Master’s Degree from the Aaron Copland School of Music, City University of New York, where he studied with Michael Mossman, Antonio Hart, and David Berkman.

Cameron is the author of  ‘Modern Etudes for Solo Trumpet, recently published by Sher Music.

More recently Cameron composed an album of original works for brass ensemble and jazz soloist. These works were captured in studio recordings featuring New Zealand brass ensemble ‘Symposium Brass’ and international jazz trumpet star Ingrid Jensen.
