Sam is a Christchurch based jazz and soul singer, drawing on the influence of artists such as Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and Robert Glasper. She performs regularly in a range of settings around Christchurch with her band, "Sammy G and the Appletrees", and other collaborations.
Alongside performing Sam has a passion for teaching, working with preschoolers right through to adult students. At its heart, her philosophy is centred on empowering her students by to reach their full musical potential by fostering a love of music, and teaching the skills to support that.

Sam is a Christchurch based jazz and soul singer, drawing on the influence of artists such as Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and Robert Glasper. She performs regularly in a range of settings around Christchurch with her band, “Sammy G and the Appletrees”, and other collaborations.
Sam has had experience in a vast array of performance environments. Before moving to Christchurch, she sang frequently in a number of choral events in Nelson, as well as in a solo capacity at the Nelson Cathedral, School of Music, and Playhouse Theatre. More recently, her projects have seen her perform a series of shows around Christchurch, including a tribute show to neo soul, and a concert with the All Girl Big Band at the Piano Centre for Music and the Arts. Sam is also a regular feature at local jazz bars such as Fat Eddies and Vesuvio.
